The Noise Trigger mode lets you set a custom volume level and then trigger the camera’s shutter by making a loud noise. The noise needs to be loud enough to surpass the volume level set on the screen. If the noise is quieter than the selected threshold, the camera won’t take a picture.
Please note: this article assumes you already have a OneStep+ and the Polaroid app (if not, read here) and that they are connected (if not, read here).
To enter Noise Trigger mode:
- Select the topmost menu option on the homescreen of the Polaroid app: ‘OneStep+’
- The screen should now be blue, and indicate that you are now in Remote mode of the Polaroid app
- Swipe right, moving between shooting modes, until the screen is pink and reads ‘Noise Trigger’ at the top
- First, we recommend making some sounds to see the sound bars move up and down and get an idea of how sound registers on your phone.
- Click and drag the white bar downwards, until it is at the level of sound which will be your trigger
- When the screen changes from pink to black it means the trigger is active!
- Once the sound level is reached, the camera will take a photo
Note: If the volume level is reached but the camera simply won’t take a photo, double check that you have film left in the camera.

Some extra tips to get you started:
- Test the noise beforehand. Make the sound and watch the volume level registered on your smartphone screen, then set the sound threshold to this level.
- When the screen turns from pink to black, the trigger is active. Be very quiet! Until you want to take a picture, of course.
