The Polaroid Lab is not designed to reproduce exact copies of your digital images. The beauty of analog instant photography is that it adds characteristics of instant materials (color shifts, change in contrast) to each exposure.
To get the best from Lab:
- Turn off all settings and apps which can influence the color of your phone display, such as Night Shift or True Tone, as these can affect the end exposure. It can also be a good idea to make sure you don’t get any phone calls or text messages too.
- Remove any phone covers and screen protectors before using the Lab. Make sure your phone screen is clean, as dirt, cracks and scratches will affect picture quality.
- Choose bright photos where the subject is well-lit and it has possibly bright colors. Generally, images that are underexposed (too dark) or overexposed (too bright) are more difficult to produce well.
- Use fresh film. Stock up on new film at polaroid.com and follow the tip sheet film to keep it at its best.
- Get your phone level on the Polaroid Lab phone platform when you make a picture.
- Select the right film setting in the App.
- Protect your photos from light as they develop. Leave photos under the film shield for a few seconds, then place face down until fully developed. Remember it takes about 15 minutes for color film and 5 minutes for black and white.
