Read these few points to get ready and take your first picture with your Polaroid Lab: make unique memories out of your digital pictures.
1. Turn the Polaroid Lab on
To turn on, remove the cover and press the platform release button on the right side. The phone platform will automatically lift to ‘ready’ position. The rainbow LED will light up to indicate the Lab is on.
To turn off, gently press the phone platform back into the unit. The Lab will turn itself off automatically after several minutes of inactivity. Replace the cover whenever the Lab is not in use.
2. Load the film
Pick up the Polaroid Lab and gently pull down the front of the film door to open. Push the film cassette until you hear a ‘click’, with the film’s darkslide facing up.
Please check individual film packaging for development time, handling, and storage details.
3. Close film door
The film’s darkslide will eject automatically, underneath the film shield. The plastic film shield is designed to protect images from light as they develop — it should not be removed. Take the darkslide out from under the film shield and let the film shield roll back up. If the darkslide has not ejected, remove the film pack and re-insert it, making sure it is pushed all the way to the back of the camera.
4. Open the Polaroid app
The Polaroid Lab works together with the Polaroid app. Download the app from the App Store or Google Play.
5. Choose your photo
Tap ‘Polaroid Lab’ in the Polaroid app. Tap ‘Choose Photo’ and select the photo you want to expose. The app will guide you through the rest.
6. Put your phone on the Lab platform
Remove any phone covers and screen protectors. Place the phone screen down on the phone platform. Align the top of your phone with the back of the Lab. When correctly aligned, the rainbow LED will light up and the Lab will make a ‘success’ sound.
Be sure to turn off all settings and apps which can influence the color of your phone display, such as Night Shift or True Tone, as these can affect the end exposure.
7. Make the picture
The Polaroid Lab will detect your photo on the phone screen and adjust brightness to ensure the right exposure. Wait until the rainbow LED flashes, then press the red shutter button.
Your Polaroid photo will be ejected from the slot at the front of the Lab once the shutter button is released. Remove the photo from beneath the film shield and let the film shield roll back into the Polaroid Lab. Place the photo face down to shield it from light as it develops.
To make another exposure of the same digital photo, just press the red shutter button again.
