Through manual mode you can get total control over your Polaroid Now+: isn’t that cool?
A few quick steps and you can adjust aperture, shutter speed, and flash strength, while also keeping your exposure in check. You can also choose between portrait and standard lenses and decide when to eject the film. This last feature is handy if you want to take multiple exposures in the one photo (here you can read more about how to take a double exposure with the Now+ camera) or need to take photos in silence.
For example: if you want to take more than 2 exposures on a photo, you can set manual ejection, press the shutter button as many times as you want (remember: technically you can take as many exposures as you want but if you want to see details and not only an almost completely white photo you have to find balance: shoot them wisely) and then press eject now. The same applies if, for example, you want to take pictures in a place where you should be quiet: select manual ejection, press the shutter button and take your photo, then once you’re elsewhere you can press on eject now and get your photo.
To sum up the main functions you can adjust using this feature:
- The light meter bar at the top tells you the light level based on your settings. Normally, you want this as close to 0 as possible. If your light meter is in the + region, your photo will be lighter. If it’s in the - region, your photo will be darker.
- Use the time slider to adjust the shutter speed (how long the shutter stays open), you can choose from 1/200th of a second to 30 seconds.
- At the top of that slider, you have the bulb setting. This means the shutter won’t close automatically. It will stay open until you press the shutter button on your phone again.
- The aperture slider controls the size of your camera’s aperture opening, from f-64 (smallest) to f-11 (widest).
- The flash slider adjusts how powerful your camera’s flash will be. The higher the bar, the brighter the flash.
- The eject setting (auto or manual) controls whether the camera ejects your image right away. Select manual to play with multiple exposures.
- Lens choice allows you to choose between portrait or standard lens. Go for portrait lens if your subject is between 0,4m to 1,2 m from you (it means between 1.31ft and 3.93ft) otherwise stay with the standard one (1,2m or 3.93ft to infinite).

To use manual mode, compose your image using the camera’s viewfinder and adjust each of the settings as desired. When you’re ready, press the shutter button on your phone.
A useful note: if you’re using your camera for a portrait with manual mode, we recommend a narrower aperture, like f-64, for sharper images.
